The attached press release has been issued by Darlington Developments and ARC Enterprises regarding the progress on restarting the ex Wellman Palmetto plant in Darlington SC.

AKC Note:
The Darlington plant closed in late 2008 and at the time of closure the nameplate capacity was 500mm lbs or 225,000 tons of polyester staple fiber. The plant production was targeted at spinning and nonwoven applications. The project to restart the plant was first made public in the summer of 2015 and work has been progressing on both the financing and operational aspects of the project. This release confirms that the necessary air permit application has been filed with the state. It is understood that if the air permit is issued and the project proceeds that start up will be on a phased basis. At closure the plant had a total of 7 production lines.
